The Creative Network was founded in 2012 with the aims of establishing an inclusive community of artists and to raise the profile and appreciation of art on the Isle of Man.
Initially, we were working towards this through staging the island's first and only festival of visual arts, originally based in the West of the Island and known as Western Open Studios and Art Trail (WOSAT). This has quickly grown to a 3 weekend event, the 'Isle of Man Art Festival', which is biennial and spread across the whole Island. We are delighted to be succeeding in our aim of growing the festival year on year, and we look forward to continued growth and recognition both on and off the island in the future.
As the festival is now biennial, the volunteer artist committee now find time to broaden the activities of the Network. We have initiated the Silverburn Art Trail, which is growing annually to become a new all Island cultural and natural amenity. We have also instigated a series of larger curated exhibitions which invite our membership to submit work around a theme to an invited panel of selectors/curators.
