Colleen Corlett DipAD, ATD, MISTD
As a full time artist for the past 40 years, Colleen’s work includes stamp design, calligraphy, painting, stained glass, sandblasted glass, ceramic, tapestry, quilting, crochet and embroidery. Her degree was in graphic design which led to teaching and inspired a love of learning, research and problem solving. She has spent 15 years designing for the IOM Post Office and 5 years teaching evening classes at the IOM College. Best known for her stamp designs and illuminated scrolls for Douglas Corporation and Tynwald, 2 of which have been presented to the queen, Colleen has recently designed and built 2 stained glass windows for Arbory Church. 3 earlier windows, sandblasted panels and carved wood framed calligraphy pieces are in Douglas Town Hall. The below images include gourds that she has been working on. They are carved, worked on with Pyrography and the colour is dyes that are set with a heat gun and the finished article is varnished or polished Colleen thinks that life is full of surprises and challenges and quotes Einstein: "Creativity is intelligence having fun"
