Debra Tracey-Carney BA (Hons) IS, PGCE, PGDIP
Debra is a multidisciplinary artist working predominantly in glass but also creates encaustic art and silk paintings. Glass, wax and silk seem such disparate media but each have the common element of heat, that transforms or fixes Debra’s work. A combination of two or even all, are a constant source of experimentation. Inspired by the Island - her ‘soul home’ - Debra creates quirky creatures and Manx themed glass art, alongside her more serious art pieces. An educator for many years, Debra not only designs and facilitates community art projects but her private art workshops have proved very popular too. Held at her fully equipped studio at Grenaby Studios, students travel from the UK to learn new skills and benefit from Creative Therapy. Mosaics: Biggest was a 196 sq ft depiction of the history of Macclesfield football club. Smallest was a button depicting White Nancy. Latest commission was for a 5’ x 10’ community mosaic mural at MSV Housing in Manchester Debra is available by appointment or during selected studio opening days. islebecreative.co.im |
