Ian Coulson
Ian is currently working on a project that he is calling ‘A love song to Douglas’ which presently is a series of paintings of disregarded corners of our capital. He’s interested in the ways that Douglas has shaped us all psychologically down the generations and although we use the town in a dynamic way which is always in the present tense and all about movement, the buildings and street change very slowly; in fact he feels as though that he’s involved in reportage of a glacial shifting. His previous project was about the Peel driftermen who in the nineteenth century covered the whole coast of Britain in the pursuit of herring, this has been bought in its entirely by the Isle of Man Arts Council. |
