Janet Corran BA Fine Art (Hons)
Janet’s recent work has included two mixed media installation pieces; ‘Mental Boundaries’ and ‘The Teacher’s Cabinet’. Both include layers of personal history and deep psychological enquiry. The Teacher’s Cabinet was part of the Ellyn project on the Island and won the Biosphere Art Award in 2021. Janet’s installation work reaches out to the way people ‘feel’ and lays bare that we are not that different, after all. Her conceptual work usually takes her back to those early memories and influences of being a child of Peel. Janet’s artwork can seem playful but often holds a serious psychological slant, as she is essentially a frustrated psychoanalyst, dogged with questions about human behaviour. Art enables Janet the freedom to explore like a child, apply her intuitive desire to be creative and to use an eclectic mix of medium. It is not surprising that these combinations make for an array of ideas and materials including, wood, paint, wire, ceramics and throwaway objects. click here for Janet's web shop |
