"I've been working with clay for about 20 years.  My work is inspired by the varied and changeable beauty of the Isle of Man, the diverse nature of clay and its uses, and colours that bring joy. The world around us can be wild, exciting and sometimes daunting, but it is also delicate and fragile. This is true of both natural and human influenced environments. Flowers bloom and turn to seed, buildings stand proud until they don’t.
Starting with a lump of wet clay I handcraft each of my pieces individually using hand building techniques. They are shaped and formed, fettled and smoothed until they are finally ready to be bisque fired. Once cool, I hand decorate and glaze each one ready for a second firing to stoneware.
Some pieces may go through a third firing if precious metal lustres are to be featured. Through each of these unique pieces I hope to capture fleeting moments that make life so interesting, and make people smile along the way."
