Luis Santiago
Luis is an illustrator, graphic designer and Spanish artist, born in 1945. In the early 60’s he began his career as an illustrator and cartoonist collaborating with various newspapers and magazines such as La Codorniz, Sabado Grafico, ABC, Hermano Lobo, Por favor, etc. In the 70’s Luis took up residence in Sweden (Uppsala) where he alternated his work as an artist and illustrator until 1983. Following this, after a few years of work and residence in Spain, Central America and the U.S., Luis returned to Sweden in 1997 where he continued his work, mainly as an illustrator, although he also took part in collective art exhibitions. In 2002, Luis settled in Nerja, Málaga, before moving to the Isle of Man In October 2023. Throughout his career, Luis has been awarded the following prizes and distinctions: Work grant for the Konstnärsnamden, Sweden, 1977. Grant from the Association of Swedish illustrators. In February 2001 he won 1st price in a contest organised by the Tourist Office of the island of Öland for the design and creation of a corporate image for this region of the southwest of Sweden. Luis's work is displayed in various official premises in Uppsala, Wereld Kartoenale in Knokke- Heist, Belgium and in private collections in Spain, Sweden and Costa Rica. www.the-smile-bank.com |
