Mark Smyth
Mark got his love of wood from growing up on a farm in Northern Ireland and spending a lot of his time in the forests and countryside. Moving to the Isle of Man over 20 years ago, he began working as a tree surgeon and his inspiration to create out of the wood he cut down began to grow! And so it began, over the years it has developed into woodturning, wall hangings, sculpture and bespoke furniture. He now has a ‘mountain’ of native Manx woods including, elm, yew, laburnum, cherry and many, many more! All waiting in the various stages of readiness to turn into beautiful unique pieces of art. MS Wood Art is all about using Manx wood. Every piece of wood art or the wood-turned items are made from, felled or salvaged (usually by Mark himself) wood on the Isle of Man. Each piece has full provenance and virtually zero carbon miles. He gets his inspiration for his work from the natural beauty of the Isle of Man and the wood itself. |
