Ronnie Doyle
Ronnie is a self-taught artist, who paints watercolours, pen and wash. His style is very loose, almost impressionistic. He wants his paintings to “Tell a Story”, rather than look photographic. Ronnie makes broad brush strokes with beautiful squirrel mops, on Arches Aquarelle 300lbs rough paper. He draws each day and often uses that sketch in a future final piece. When asked why he succeeds he says “because I work hard! I practice, practice and practice!” He has a confidence in applying the brush to paper which he sees as a must as, “One can tell by brush strokes if the artist has laboured”. Light is essential in his work, he preserves the white of the paper to enhance the painting. This gives vibrancy, allowing the eye to move excitedly around the image. Painting with passion, from the heart! In Spring 2023, Ronnie's recent work documents a migration to work which mixes colourful abstraction alongside his carefully drawn Manx scenes. |
