Andrew mackellar - site of significance
The drawing here is of an ancient burial mound with stones exposed (Arragon stone circle), drawn to show the placement of the mound in the familiar and homely landscape and to capture the magnificence of its setting. It is a place which Andrew draws frequently, always differently to catch the multiple aspects it presents, but always with the sense of it being part of home.
Andrew feels the setting was chosen by the mound builders for similar reasons. The location seems to promote the idea of a relationship with a concept of infinity. It is a feeling that the Island gives us in so many places; a feeling of being a small but connected part of such an expansive space. It is these feelings that make Andrew proud to call the Isle of Man home.
