Jo Lewy
BORDERS, LEVEL 4, (RESIDENTS AND KEYWORKERS ONLY)
Jo is a potter making fairly large scale, narrative pots telling all kinds of stories about current affairs and everyday life to more personal “family history” pots. This pot is called Borders, Level 4 (Residents and Key Workers Only) and was made to reflect the situation surrounding the borders of the Isle of Man in Autumn 2020. It seemed a natural subject to me within the ‘Boundaries’ definition. The pot portrays the Isle of Man inside a bubble surrounded by a bright red boundary line and many ‘No entry’ signs, there are aircraft and ships being turned away unable to enter through the boundary. There is however one break in the boundary where the Ben My Chree is able to enter following a 22 carat ‘golden pathway’ toward the island signposted for ‘Residents and Key Workers Only
