Another new member before Christmas - allow us to introduce poet and digital artist, Janet Lees!
'I am a poet and digital artist, working with words, photography and film. Having worked as a freelance copywriter for nearly 20 years, I rediscovered my love of poetry in 2011. I studied for a Creative Writing MA at Lancaster University, graduating with distinction in December 2013. My BA Hons degree was in Creative Arts (Visual Arts & Writing). In my career I’ve been lucky enough to work with some outstanding art directors and, more recently, some exceptional artists. All of this has helped me to develop a keen visual eye. As well as writing poetry, I create digital works based on my own photography and films, and the work of other artists My poetry has been published in magazines including Magma, Poetry News and The Missing Slate, and I’ve been widely anthologised, most recently via the annual Templar anthology and the Aesthetica International Creative Writing Award. My poetry films have been selected for international festivals and prizes including the Aesthetica Art Prize and Filmpoem. I facilitate creative writing workshops at The Hub in Port Erin as part of the southern community arts project, sponsored by the Isle of Man Arts Council, and have just edited and produced an anthology of work from the session participants.' janetlees.weebly.com The hours of darkness from Lees Rooney on Vimeo.
